Prayer 2021 - May 12 - The Prayer of Petition pt 4

Scripture For Today:

Ezra 8:23

“So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He answered our Prayer.”

The Prayer of Petition pt 4

Yesterday, I left off with the concept of YOU doing some Bible research to find as many scriptures as possible that speak directly or indirectly to your situation. By spending time in the Word of God and finding these scriptures, you WILL build and increase your Faith.

How does that work? Simple, you begin to find God’s Word and how it applies to your situation. As you find more and more examples of how the Word actually WORKS in your situation, that increases the confidence you have that your prayer will truly be answered. Amen!

You can – and should – also include “The Prayer of Binding and Loosing” with your Prayer of Petition. What does this mean and how does that apply? Stick with me here…

The prayer referencing “Binding and Loosing,” is found in Matthew 18:18-19. Jesus says: "'Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.'"

There are several important nuggets in Jesus' statements here, the first being that we have authority here on this earth by virtue of our covenant rights through Jesus. The second thing we notice is the direction of the action. Things do not begin in heaven and come to Earth, but rather the action starts here on Earth. Notice that it says, "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Like all things in God's system, this type of prayer works only in line with God's Word and His laws. You cannot bind things willy-nilly. Binding a team to lose in the Super Bowl won't work any more than loosing someone to love you.

You can, however, bind foul spirits that are at work in people's lives or loose angelic spirits to work on your behalf in those areas where God has already promised you results. When you pray in this manner, God affirms it in heaven and puts His seal of approval on your prayer. Binding and loosing have to be based on the authority God has granted you in Scripture, not on some desire you have.

My number one pet peeve concerning prayer is the use of the phrase, “If it be thy will.”  Or, “If it is your will…”  This one phrase can negate your entire prayer!  It takes you from a position of FAITH and puts you right back into unbelief. And if you are in unbelief, you are not in a position to receive the answer from God that you are seeking.

I know that sounds harsh. And I did touch on this a bit ago about the Prayer of Dedication and Prayer and Worship. But I want to emphasize one more time how so many Christians do not see results, because they end if, “IF it is your will.”

Let me see…

Is there sickness in Heaven?  No

Is there death in Heaven?  No

Are their cripple people in Heaven?  No

Is there lack in Heaven?  No – the streets are made of gold! What we consider valuable here is used as asphalt there!

Is the devil in Heaven? No

Are there demons in Heaven? No

So obviously, ALL of those things are not God’s will, correct?  Because ONLY HIS WILL is “done in Heaven.” Am I correct?

So if you end every prayer with “If it be thy will” or something similar to that, it shows you DO NOT KNOW that God’s Will is concerning the subject you are praying about!

Don’t feel bad if you’ve been doing that!  There are many people I know that do this. They were taught that way and it has become habitual. Habits are hard to break. You do them without even thinking about it.

I’ll talk a bit more on breaking bad habits and replacing them with new habits, Godly habits, tomorrow. Amen!

Bob Thibodeau

Pastor Robert Thibodeau has been in online ministry since starting his own podcast in mid-2009. Within about six months, he was offered a slot on nationwide Christian AM radio. His broadcast was heard in four major markets for one year.

He then started what today is called, "Evangelism Radio" and went live 24/7 beginning on October 4, 2010 and continues to this day. Now with over 50 broadcasters submitting programming on a weekly basis, Evangelism Radio has listeners in over 160 nations and all 50 states. It was also ranked by Shoutcast.com as #1 in the world in the Christian Talk genre on many occasions.

In late 2017, Pastor Bob began an interview style podcast called "The Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast." On this podcast, Pastor Bob interviews Christians from various walks of life on how they use their Faith to achieve success. Authors, recording artists, business CEO's, non-profit leaders and pastors and ministers frequent the show and provide amazing insight to build your faith. In only 3 years time, The KCR Podcast has published almost 900 episodes and Pastor Bob conducted over 700 interviews!

In early 2018, in response to the lack of any Christian themed podcast hosting platform in the market place, Pastor Bob coordinated with the iconic Mark Asquith and his team, with the result being "FaithCasters.net." A "Christian podcast hosting and marketing company created by Christians for Christians."

Due to the immense success Pastor Bob has achieved in the online ministry world, he is often asked by others "How to start a podcast." Not wanting to refer Christian brothers and sisters back into the world for help in establishing a Christian themed podcast, he started to develop the "Podcast-Training" platform offered through our ministry. He conducts training on a weekly basis to assist others in the development of their own personal podcast as well as ministry related podcasts that can air on Evangelism Radio.

Now, he has placed all of this information under one website location, "Podcasters for Christ." This makes it easier for other Christians to find the services they need in one spot rather than having to visit several different websites.
