Prayer 2021 - July 5 - The Peace of God pt 3

Scripture For Today:

 2 Samuel 24:25

“David built an altar to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.”

The Peace of God pt 3

We have been studying what the Apostle Paul had to say about the benefits of praying in the Spirit. Yesterday, again, the Holy Spirit led us down a side path discussing the soon to come destruction of the United States – so if you missed that – go back and listen.

Although we, as believers, are saved and born again, and even filled with the Holy Spirit, in our natural minds, sometimes we still try to get the blessings of God in some other way than how God has told us to appropriate them.

Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

Verse six tells us how to have what verse 7 promises, which is: “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

You cannot jump over verse six and go directly to verse 7. It does not work that way. If you are only praying verse 7, what it promises is yours, and you ignore the requirement in verse six, you are trying to get the promises of verse 7 on your own. And it will not work. Period.

Yet, people will ask me to pray for them all of the time that they may “have the Peace of God” in whatever it is they are trying to do.

But I can’t pray that for you to have the peace of God unless you fulfill Philippians 4:6 first.  It would be like approaching say a five step entrance to an office building. You could stand on the sidewalk ask every person that goes by to help you get into the building. And every person will tell you, take the first step!

In the same way, you could not pray for God to give His “peace that passes all understanding” without you following God’s command on to obtain it.

Philippians 4:6 tells us that, in order to have the Peace of God rule in our lives, we must first, “Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

Then, verse 7 says begins with, “AND.”  It says, “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Now, one of my worst subjects in school was English grammar. It still is, it’s just that I’ve gotten slightly better at in my old age. Amen!  But the word “and” is a conjunction. It is a word that joins to other words or thought together. In this instance, it is joining verse six and verse seven together.

In other words, if you do what verse six instructs you to do, then verse seven will apply. So if you do the first, then you obtain the second part. If you fail to do the first part, the word “and” does not apply and the remainder of the promise does not apply to you.

One more example and then we will close for today.

What if you bought one of those new cars that has a key-bob instead of a regular key, and you’ve never used one before. You don’t know where to put the thing to unlock the car door, so you call the salesman for help.

He will say something like, “Just take the key-bob and walk towards the car. When you get within 10 feet, the car senses the key-bob and then you push the button and unlock the car.”

If you do not take the key-bob with you, then none of the results apply. If you do, then the stand in the office building, looking out the window pushing the button,  nothing happens. You need to walk towards the car. But, you cannot just walk into the parking lot and start pushing the button. You need to walk within ten feet of the car. Then the second “AND” applies as well.

Each step joins itself to the prior step. As you complete each step, you obtain the results  you wanted. In the example of the stairs to the office building, you cannot just take the first step and expect to be inside. You need to take each step, one at a time and then you obtain your desired result of being able to enter the building.

Bob Thibodeau

Pastor Robert Thibodeau has been in online ministry since starting his own podcast in mid-2009. Within about six months, he was offered a slot on nationwide Christian AM radio. His broadcast was heard in four major markets for one year.

He then started what today is called, "Evangelism Radio" and went live 24/7 beginning on October 4, 2010 and continues to this day. Now with over 50 broadcasters submitting programming on a weekly basis, Evangelism Radio has listeners in over 160 nations and all 50 states. It was also ranked by Shoutcast.com as #1 in the world in the Christian Talk genre on many occasions.

In late 2017, Pastor Bob began an interview style podcast called "The Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast." On this podcast, Pastor Bob interviews Christians from various walks of life on how they use their Faith to achieve success. Authors, recording artists, business CEO's, non-profit leaders and pastors and ministers frequent the show and provide amazing insight to build your faith. In only 3 years time, The KCR Podcast has published almost 900 episodes and Pastor Bob conducted over 700 interviews!

In early 2018, in response to the lack of any Christian themed podcast hosting platform in the market place, Pastor Bob coordinated with the iconic Mark Asquith and his team, with the result being "FaithCasters.net." A "Christian podcast hosting and marketing company created by Christians for Christians."

Due to the immense success Pastor Bob has achieved in the online ministry world, he is often asked by others "How to start a podcast." Not wanting to refer Christian brothers and sisters back into the world for help in establishing a Christian themed podcast, he started to develop the "Podcast-Training" platform offered through our ministry. He conducts training on a weekly basis to assist others in the development of their own personal podcast as well as ministry related podcasts that can air on Evangelism Radio.

Now, he has placed all of this information under one website location, "Podcasters for Christ." This makes it easier for other Christians to find the services they need in one spot rather than having to visit several different websites.
